On Friday, February 10, Mr. Yan Bing – Vice President of Sinopharm International and President of the International Business Department, and Dr. Farid Bennis, CEO of Laprophan, signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement during a dual ceremony between Beijing and Casablanca, in the presence of Mr. Zhang Haoji – Vice President of the International Business Department and President of Sinopharm Foreign Trade.
This cooperation covers all areas of health and medicine, including pharmaceutical preparations, active ingredients, packaging materials, pharmaceutical consumables, and medical devices, as well as pharmaceutical production equipment and materials. This agreement also includes technology transfer to Laprophan with the aim of local production of certain pharmaceutical specialties.
In his opening speech, Mr. Yan Bing – Vice President of Sinopharm International – stated that “the signing of this agreement constitutes a cooperation between Sinopharm and Laprophan, a pioneer in the pharmaceutical industry in Morocco, in the fields of medicine and health, guided by China's 'Belt and Road' initiative. Thanks to the joint efforts of both parties, the signing of this Strategic Cooperation Agreement marks a new milestone in the cooperation between China and Morocco in the field of medicine and health, promoting the upgrading of cooperation across the entire industrial chain of medicine and health, thus taking a new step towards building a 'Sino-African Community of Shared Future.'”
For his part, Dr. Farid Bennis, President of Laprophan, expressed his “satisfaction with the signing of this partnership with a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry, which will help meet public health needs and contribute to strengthening the health security of our country, in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines.” Dr. Farid Bennis also called for “expanding the Belt and Road initiative to the rest of Africa and the health sector, thanks to Laprophan's presence in many African countries, allowing for better responses with Sinopharm to the public health needs of the continent.”
