The Faculty of Pharmacy at Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences, in partnership with Laboratoires Laprophan, hosted the 1st Certificate Award Ceremony for the training program "Practical Skills in Pharmacy" on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

The two institutions established a certified university training program for pharmacy assistants in June 2022 and have, to date, trained 400 pharmacy assistants. This is the first initiative of its kind in our country, aimed at upgrading the knowledge of pharmacy assistants to ensure the proper dispensing of medications in compliance with current regulations and best practices, and to manage, under the supervision of the pharmacist, various situations of interaction with healthcare professionals, particularly physicians.

The role of pharmacy assistants is crucial in promoting the proper use of medications, adhering to medical prescriptions, and preventing situations of misuse of health products.

This unprecedented training also allowed participants to acquire skills related to managerial and communication aspects, enabling them to skillfully manage the various situations they face on a daily basis.

The multidisciplinary approach adopted has addressed a genuine need expressed by pharmacy assistants and pharmacists, and will foster a better contribution from this group to the current transformations in the healthcare system in Morocco.

The training was delivered by university professors in pharmacy and medicine, as well as expert speakers in the practical aspects of the profession.
